Western Energetics: How Herbs and Humans Interact

Western Energetics: How Herbs and Humans Interact

Have you ever wondered how herbs can have such a profound effect on our bodies? Well, let us introduce you to the meaningful (and sometimes seemingly magical) world of Western Energetics.

Western Energetics: How Herbs and Humans Interact
Western Energetics is a system used by herbalists to classify herbs based on their unique properties.

It’s like a secret language that helps us understand how each herb interacts with our bodies in its own special way.

And the best part? It’s based on the four elements of earth, water, air, and fire – the building blocks of the universe.

Imagine, if you will, each herb as a tiny superhero with its own superpowers. Some herbs are like the mighty earth element – grounding and nourishing, perfect for strengthening the body and promoting overall health. Others are like the gentle water element – cooling and moisturizing, perfect for reducing inflammation and promoting hydration. Then there are the airy herbs – light and breezy, great for promoting mental clarity and respiratory health. And last but not least, the fiery herbs – warming and stimulating, perfect for improving digestion and circulation.

Western Energetics goes way beyond just understanding individual herbs

By understanding the properties of herbs and their effects on the body, herbalists can create custom formulas that are tailored to each individual’s unique needs. It’s like creating a potion designed specifically for each person’s unique constitution.

You see, just like each herb has its own unique vibration, each person has their own unique vibration as well–which we call a “temperament” or “constitution” (or having someone fall into a certain temperament or constitutional type). And by taking into consideration a person’s constitution and the accompanying “tissue states” they present with, we can get really specific and choose the herbs that will work in harmony with their body.

For example, someone with a fiery constitution may benefit from cooling herbs to balance out their excess heat, while someone with a cold constitution may benefit from warming herbs to help stimulate their body’s natural warmth. It’s like a dance between the herbs and the person, a connected flow of energy that creates balance and harmony.

Of course, Western energetics is not the only framework used in herbal medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine, for instance, uses a different system based on the concepts of yin and yang. In Ayurveda, the three doshas are a representation of the elements found in nature – earth (Kapha), fire (Pitta), and air (Vata). Each dosha has its own unique qualities, characteristics, and functions.

The Western Energetics lens provides a unique perspective that allows us to see herbs in a different light as if they are alive and part of our world with their own special powers and qualities.

So, if you’re fascinated by the nature of herbal medicine and want to dive deeper into the exciting realm of Western Energetics, there’s no better time to start! If you want to learn more and dive right in, Bree recently launched a new course covering everything you need to know about this exciting herbal practice. Learn more about the course here.

You’ll gain a better understanding of how herbs interact with our bodies, why each herb has its own unique properties (in terms of taste, organ affinities, herbal actions, and energetics), and how we can use these healing plants to create balance and harmony for our bodies.

The result: even better results using herbs, whether for your family members or in your herbal practice.
